Aomori City is the capital of Aomori prefecture, and offers much to see and do, especially along the coastline with Aomori Bay.
Aomori's Nebuta Warasse Museum invites visitors to learn about the history of nebuta festival floats, while at the adjacent A-Factory, visitors can go shopping or sample some local foods.
To get a panoramic view of the area, the observatory deck at the nearby ASPAM building offers superb 360-degree views of Aomori, with the first floor shops also offering local treats and souvenirs to buy.
