La torre “Kobe Port Tower” de 108 metros de altura es uno de los monumentos más famosos de la ciudad portuaria de Kobe ubicada en la ciudad de Osaka. La torre de observación se completó en 1963 y se detuvo su operación a finales del 2009 hasta el 28 de abril de 2010 para su renovación. Una característica clave es su construcción tubular ya que fue la primera torre en presentar esta forma de construcción. La estructura es similar a un “tsuzumi”, un tambor japonés tradicional alargado. También fue la primera torre en Japón iluminada por la noche. Ha recibido numerosos premios tanto en las categorías de arquitectura como de iluminación.
