Kagawa has its own taste of Oktoberfest, with a new beer festival bringing German brews, local food, live music, and entertainment to the waterfront at Sunport Takamatsu.
KAGAWA OKTOBERFEST is held during the pleasant early autumn season, when visitors can enjoy a beer outdoors while taking in views across the Seto Inland Sea. The festival features a selection of authentic German beers, with around 10 brands represented, including well-known names such as Hofbräu, Schneider Weisse, Bitburger, and Paulaner. There are also European beers beyond Germany, giving visitors plenty of options to sample.
Food is another big part of the experience, with the festival pairing its beer selection with dishes made using ingredients from Kagawa Prefecture. Live performances and entertainment take place throughout the festival, adding to the lively atmosphere.
One particularly unique feature is the festival's air show, featuring air race world champion Yoshihide Muroya performing an acrobatic flight above the waterfront. The event has also incorporated a Japanese twist on the traditional Oktoberfest experience with bon odori-style entertainment.
