Kifune Cosmetics & Gallery is a fantastic shop and cafe located just south of Kifune Shrine, in the mountains of Kyoto. The shop sells a wide variety of handmade Japanese items - pottery, glassware, artwork, jewelry, scarves, cosmetics, and more. Visitors can also sit down to enjoy a drink and/or a tasty piece of cake.
Although it only takes up a tiny section of the store, their specialty is cosmetics made locally which are promoted as traditional products of Kyoto combined with the latest innovative technology. Check out their website (in Japanese) for a fascinating story of the company's history.
