Geibikei es un desfiladero de 2 kilómetros de largo formado por el río Satetsu, que está rodeado por paredes de roca de más de 50 metros de altura y alcanza su pico a 124 metros. El nombre "Geibi" , que significa "nariz de león", proviene de una formación de piedra caliza cerca de un extremo de la garganta que se ve exactamente así.

Geibikei Gorge is just a 5 minutes walk from Geibikei Station on JR Ofunato Line, departing from Ichinoseki Station.

To see Geibikei you take a boat down the river through the gorge, which has cliffs as tall as 100m on either side.
Take a traditional boat ride down the Geibikei Gorge in South Iwate, Japan. Catch fish for 50 yen to feed the large gold and red fish which follow the boat down the stream. The trip is only 1,500 yen in an area well worth a visit.
