Asómbrate por las nubes de tormenta hechas de vapor volcánico que se acumulan sobre el volcán activo, Owakudani (大 涌 谷), el Gran Valle de Ebullición. Creado hace unos 3.000 años, hoy el valle del cráter es un sitio turístico popular, a pesar del nombre ominoso y evocador. El valle volcánico todavía está vivo hoy con respiraderos de azufre activos y aguas termales. Una vez llamado el "Grand Inferno” o "Great Hell” gracias a las corrientes de humo sulfúrico blanco que se extendían hacia el cielo, fue rebautizado cuando el Emperador y la Emperatriz Meiji visitaron Hakone en 1873 porque los lugareños dudaron en invitarlos a un lugar con tales nombres.

Cómo llegar

From the starting station of Hakone-Yumoto, it takes a little over half an hour to reach Owakudani Station. From Owakudani Station, visitors may ride the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani. The Izuhakone Bus also leaves from Hakone-Yumoto Station and stops at Owakudani Visitor Center.
