Para prevenir la propagación de infección por coronavirus, el mausoleo solo aceptará hasta 100 personas por hora para clientes grupales y 25 personas de diferentes grupos en el museo.
Cuando Date Masamune, daimyo y fundador del dominio Sendai en la región de Tohoku, murió en 1636, dejó planos detallados para su mausoleo, en el que más tarde fueron enterrados su hijo, nieto y muchos otros parientes del clan Date.
