The Burning Mountain Temple
C. RioTemple twelve in the Shikoku Ohenro pilgrimage is also known as the Burning Mountain Temple.
A unos 50 kilómetros del inicio de la peregrinación se encuentra el Templo Shosanji, el duodécimo templo de la peregrinación Shikoku Ohenro, en la cima de una montaña a 800 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
Shosanji significa "Templo de la Montaña Ardiente” y se refiere a una antigua leyenda la cual menciona que un dragón de fuego que vivía en la montaña y aterrorizaba a los lugareños incendiando toda la montaña. To get there by public transport, catch a Yorii-naka bound bus from Tokushima station and ride till end of the line. From there change buses to one going to Shosanji, from the Shosanji bus stop it is about a 90 minute walk. Alternately, it's a beautiful hike from Temple eleven over well marked trails and with spectacular views (allow 4-6 hours).
