Este espacio verde fuera de los muros del Palacio Imperial es el parque de estilo occidental más antiguo de Japón. El parque se abrió al público en 1903 y se encuentra en el sitio de antiguas propiedades de daimyo (señores feudales). Conocidos paseos que lo convierten en un relajante refugio del ajetreo y bullicio.
El parque de casi 40 hectáreas alberga varios sitios históricos.
