Tofukiji is one of Kyoto's better known temples. It is large and boasts many beautiful and interesting buildings, including a hall with a fabulous dragon ceiling. However, its greatest claim to fame is probably due to inspired landscaping. A small valley with a stream has been filled with maple trees. Lovely covered wooden bridges cross the valley at two points, and visitors flock to Tofukuji in autumn to enjoy the blaze of color viewed from one of the bridges.
