The Noge Area is an old downtown district in Yokohama, just a 5-minute-walk from Sakuragicho Station on the JR Keihin Tohoku Line. It is famous for Jazz, casual food, and street performances. In 1986 the “Noge Street Performance Festival” started as a town revival project. It takes place on the main street in Noge, in spring and in autumn. About 30 groups of street performers entertain audiences with juggling, pantomime, acrobatics, balloon art, clown skits, unicycles, and so on. There were large crowds of people in front of each group of performers. It might be hard for you to get a good spot to see their acts, but you can still enjoy the event. Lots of delicious food stands line the streets, and plenty of cold beer is waiting for you!
